We generally do not recommend reptiles as pets, since many people get bored with them after time and stop caring for them. But if you are really interested in reptiles and ready to make a long term commitment, keeping and breeding them can be a great hobby.

Reptiles we don't recommend for beginners include:

Iguanas- They get six feet long, have many health problems and can bite very hard.

Large Constrictors- Burmese, Reticulated, Rock Pythons and Green Anacondas can be unpredictable in their cage and dangerous at over 10 feet long

Water Turtles- Salmonella bacteria grow in water.

Monitor Lizards- Can be unpredictable and some get quite large. Have a strong feeding response and a bad bite.

Please donít buy WILD CAUGHT animals as pets; they usually donít live very long and itís not good for nature. Only buy CAPTIVE BRED animals.

We donít recommend reptiles if you have children under 5 years old in the household or if someone in the household is immunosuppressed. However you can have your reptile checked and treated for salmonella, etc.

Good beginner reptile pets include:

...............................................Corn snakes
